Leadership in a Vacuum

 http://commentary.threatswatch.org/2007/02/parallel-universe/

Excellent commentary on the Iran situation.  Couples nicely with the release of information today by SecDef Gates that we just might have; maybe there were some serial numbers; I'm surprised; they might actually be doing some bad things, but we will have to study this further.

How long, my fearless leader, how long? The mullahs make a fool of you and our country on a daily basis.

From NRO 2/8  It ain't over yet Mr. Edwards, is it?

Catholic League Won't Let John Edwards Forget [Kathryn Jean Lopez]

Bill Donahue's latest:

Presidential hopeful John Edwards issued a statement today explaining why he is not firing Amanda Marcotte and Melissa McEwan for making obscene and anti-Catholic remarks.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue responds as follows:

“John Edwards has apparently decided that there is more to be gained by aligning himself with the cultural left than by standing on principle and firing the Catholic bashers on his payroll. Had anyone on his staff used the ‘N-word,’ he or she would have been fired immediately. But his goal is to loot the pockets of the Soros/Hollywood gang, and they—like him—aren’t offended by anti-Catholicism. Indeed, they thrive on it.

“When Mel Gibson got drunk and made anti-Semitic remarks, he paid a price for doing so. When Michael Richards got angry and made racist remarks, he paid a price for doing so. When Isaiah Washington got ticked off and made anti-gay remarks, he paid a price for doing so. But John Edwards thinks the same rules don’t apply to him, which is why he has chosen to embrace foul-mouthed anti-Catholic bigots on his payroll.

“Edwards said today that ‘We’re beginning a great debate about the future of our country, and we can’t let it be hijacked.’ I have news for him—the Catholic League—not Edwards—will decide what the debate will be about, and it won’t be about the nation. It will be about the glaring double standard that colors the entire conversation about bigotry.

“We will launch a nationwide public relations blitz that will be conducted on the pages of the New York Times, as well as in Catholic newspapers and periodicals. It will be on-going, breaking like a wave, starting next week and continuing through 2007. It will be an education campaign, informing the public of what he did today. We will also reach out to our allies in the Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Muslim and Buddhist communities. They worked with us before on many issues, and are sure to do so again. What Edwards did today will not be forgotten.”

UPDATE: And here is the Catholic group Fidelis.

Charlie Wilson's War?

The 'W' is getting into a deeper bind over Iran/Syria/SA every time a helicopter is shot down with an missle, as well as the more sophisticated IEDs now killing American troops.

I don't know how long he can go without taking some action against, at least, Iran/Syria.

The government is holding back the intelligence that pins this squarely on the two bad guys because, if it is released, the country just might get PO'd enough to demand action no matter what the squeemish congress has to say.

They're Coming for You

Just read Drudge.  The eco-freaks are about to strike.

It always seems that if there is a problem, the extremists get the headlines and the ability to push the dumb a** legislators at all levels into assinine regulations and laws designed only to make the extremists happy in their self content.

They also get the ability to dictate to the un or non-believers via the completely duped MSM.

I do not believe in Global Warming!

It is a crock.  Every dissenter to the theory is pummeled in the MSM as a kook anmd traitor to science no matter how well researched or verified their work.  I call them the good guys and stand with them on the climate change matter.  By the way, I assume that the cold wave is also part of the global warming theme,  Wait!  It just went from -3 to -2!  Call algor.  I have the proof he needs.

Stand by to have more of your life regulated by the idiot left.

Monday Rambles

Go Hillary!  I feel a lot better now!

http://www.julescrittenden.com/

Read him every day.  The man is brilliant.

Trying to revise my blog reading.  Doing a reconstruction of the political,  mil, and intelligence blogs trying for a better perspective on what is really going on in Iraq/Afghanistan/Iran, e.g. 'Iraq the Model'.

This will probably cut my political blogs down by two thirds, but who the hell wants to read about the losers in Washington all day long.  As I find my way around the site, I will post my favorites for you to peruse.  Super Bowl was dull; commercials were inane and insulting to my intellligence;  Jack Bauer tonite [booyah!]; and 'W' tries to make peace with the Speakerette and the ret of the dhimmis [insane move 'W;]

More later.

One more to read for clarity on the ongoing Iranian takeover of the ME:

Dis & Dat

A great exchange on the HH blog yesterday.  Too much stuff to properly summarize.  Mostly lefty expressions of horror about Bush, Cheney, and Rummy with no positive ideas about the current state of affairs (almost no mention of Iran except that we should negotiate, but they don.t say what we are to negotiate about)  The right side is composed of rabid let's kill them all [to include the Iranians] to those hungry for some kind of victory.

I can see why the lefties use the polls to bolster their argument, but they do not admit that half of the anti-war sentiment is from righties who are PO'd about the way it has been fought, and want a more aggressive approach or forget it!

Came up behind a car yeaterday driven by a young woman.  It had the usual 'if you are not outraged you are not paying attention' screed on the back, but also a small sticker that said 'READ A F***ING BOOK'.
[without the asterisks]  I guess I am too old.  No saint am I, but would I ever paste something like that on my car?

Super Bowl pick:  Indy [but pulling for the Bears}

Pitchers and Catchers report on 2/19.  GO BABY!!!!!

This week will probably see the climax of the great resolution debate in the Senate.  It appears that the Warner - Levin surrender at any cost resolution will not get 60 votes for cloture, although it will be close, as long as the nervous nellies on the republican side can sign on to  the McCain substitute to CYA.  After that is done, what does the House do?
No matter, it is all BS and contributes nothing to our quest for victory, whatever that is.  Is 'W' ever going to speak to the American people and tell us just what the hell is going on [and I mean in plain english. George {For espanol, press 1; for francais, press 2, for farsi, press your detonator} laying it on the line with Iran]?

Maybe more later.

So Where To?

The Credo de Thomas Aquinas

So we got ourselves a very unhappy public ranging from outright looney lefties anti-war types trying to relive their glory days from the 60’s and 70’s through the BDS types, both of whom seem to revel in any problem and/or defeat for America, to the angry right who feel that they have been snookered by the ‘W’ and his cronies into a war in Iraq while still cleaning up Afghanistan, that was fairly presented as a necessity, but degenerated into a meat grinder with no apparent goal or end. Meanwhile, the right fumes over our inability or reluctance or outright fear to deal with Iran.

Now the congress scurries for cover, and major blog and radio personalities demand a boycott of funding to any Republican trying to cover his or her butt with the voters who, by the way, are getting itchy in various degrees over our failure to accomplish ‘victory’ in Iraq.  I signed the ‘pledge’.  I called and wrote to my senator and all the others on the HH list.  I wrote comments on blogs degrading the efforts to undercut the troops.  To what avail?

If I listen to the left, this is all about oil and Bush/Cheney lust for power.  If I listen to the right, this is all about protecting me and mine from the (insert your favorite term here) menace. If I believe the claims of the left, then I must progress to the fact  that ‘W’ would, with clear conscience, commit troops to battle for personal gain, caring not for their welfare. The left, however,  maintains support for the troops while simultaneously condemning their dastardly actions (Abu Grhaib – Gitmo – murder - ad infinitum) How can you walk in two directions at the same time?  Is it possible they are trying to dupe me?

If I listen to the right, this is about keeping America safe from the bad guys, and it is being carried out by volunteer troopers, heroic in their efforts to protect us, to whom we owe unmitigated support.  The right will point to the ‘Bubba’ years of drawdown of the defense establishment pretty much carried on by the ogre, Rumsfeld, all the while cheating the commanders of needed manpower to win the battle
( I look at Iraq and Afghanistan as two battles in the War on Terror.  All efforts to defeat the ‘Islamic Horde’ are connected).

Many on both sides condemn the ‘W’ for his ultimate failure to plan for the post Saddam Iraq which caused mobilization of National Guard and Reserve units to fill the breach.  The early mobilizations were spread out over the country in an effort to go unnoticed, but the continual deployment and redeployment of hometown units, not to mention the resulting casualties, has had a more negative effect on support for the war than can be acceptable.  So, ‘W’  did not confront his second problem, which is the failure to fully involve the country in the long run effort to defeat Jihadism, and so has lost all of the left (no surprise here), and if the polls are to be believed, 60% of the right.

So what is the answer.  There are many in high places making big money with much prestige and reputation on the line that seemingly cannot or will not answer the question. Or can they?  Is the answer as evident as some would have us believe, such as Michael Ledeen, Col David Hunt, and perhaps VDH, that the obvious answer lies in Iran, and has been there for the last 30 years extending uncontested through the reign of even Ronaldo Maximus.  The administration continues on the one-way street of Iraq and plays word games with Iran while the mullahs laugh themselves sick at our total and complete ineptitude. Meanwhile our troops bleed on a daily basis from Iranian methods and munitions.

I read many blogs daily, but no MSM of  any type.  I tried to read some lefty blogs for perspective, but got so angry with the incoherent rants that I gave up.  Most of what I read is, in my opinion, overly concerned with the politics surrounding current events, more like a game, with wins and losses chalked up on a big scoreboard, rather than the events themselves, and how we should be understanding their impact. Not to detract from the importance of the political side, for it is the politicians who will ultimately make the decisions that will allow us to win or lose the big war, and any influence on the voter that can be obtained  is a plus.  As to influence on the politicians themselves, I do not see any positive results, as those who should be most responsive to the right side blogs are huddling with the left in fear of the dhimmi masses who could and would cut them off from the eternal gravy train in 2008.  Landslide???

Where does the Democratic President take the country as it applies to Iran?  By the time of inauguration, the ‘surge’, of which we now concern ourselves, will be done, one way or the other. The dhimmi congress, with the help of the cowardly Republicans may have ended the entire adventure with the fiscal squeeze before the election to simplify things for the dhimmi administration.  (don’t forget those earmarks!)

The aftermath?  Today, the prediction is for chaos in Iraq to include ethnic cleansing of the Sunnis; Turkish invasion of  Kurdistan; undisturbed AQ HQ and training facilities in Anbar (hosted by Syria); loss of democracy in Lebanon; and, best of all, complete Iranian control of Iraq (with the bomb??).  I cannot disagree with the prediction.  The hole card is what do the Sunni Arab countries do to counter the hated Shia Persians?  Not to mention the Israelies.  Perhaps a Sunni – Israeli alliance similar to SEATO.

Hello Ms/Mr President, how do you deal with the above?  Negotiations, you say? Maybe sharia law in Dearborn and Minneapolis will be a starter.

Everything will be blamed on the 'W'. and perhaps rightly so, but those who are so keen to turn tail today just might find themselves in the fight of their life if they fail to heed the mullahs.  And they may be ultimately forced to face the mullahs because the bulk of Americans will not permit surender, no matter who is in charge.

That is the big picture.  How about me?  I will support the ‘surge’, although, like many of my friends, I have lost completely my faith in the President and the administration.  We now have moved from committing the troops to battle for victory to offering sacrifice to the gods of duplicity coupled with the absolute fear of confronting Iran.

So much for today.  HH, Please cancel my loyalty oath to ‘W’. It is over for me.

Are you nuts, Tom?

The PPH reports that Congressman Tom Allen is mulling a run agaist Susan Collins in 2008. No, no, no Tommy boy.  If you run for the Senate in 2008 it will be in the dhimmi primary, not the general election cause Susan will be a dhimmi by the end of 2007.  Trust me.  She is a dhimmi except for registration already, and she sees the handwriting on the wall for the repubs ---- disaster 2008.

Stick to the house Tom.

Pats/Sox

I see where LT is now backing down on his BB dis after the game and is now looking forward to BB coaching him in the pro bowl.  Way to go LT!

Does anyone think we will draft a linebacker or two or three?

Zaka-San is packing up to go to Fort Myers.  Good move on changing interpreters Zaka.  Pitchers and catchers report 2/19??  Can not wait!

Anyway, let's see what Theo can screw up this year.  Obviously. we have too many pitchers, so let's trade somebody for an obscure, big hitting(?) outfielder who can't play the outfield!

By the way, Theo, we got a closer yet?
